Superfatting refers to increasing the percentage oil vs. the percentage of alkali (lye) in a soap recipe. A small amount of extra "free" oil in the soap adds extra moisturizing qualities to the soap. Superfatting with specific oils affects the feel and qualities of the soap by allowing the oil properties to be expressed in the soap.
